    Default Uni Title = Finished

Briefly, as I'll be late for work if I say too much, even with a small group of people, we can't get our shit together enough to make it work behind the scenes, so add this to the long line of things taken away. Not much left, eh?

Thanks to Lindz and Billy for turning up to the last match on time. Thanks to everyone else who previously contributed anything at all to make it work to this point. Hopefully someone got something positive out of it.

Future? Laws of demand and supply will be applied.

    FAQ

    Are you serious?
    Yes.

I put things at arms length and made a decision based on a variety of factors, none of which involve a temper tantrum. Some things just weren't able to mesh well enough to make it work in a way that is sustainable so its better this way is it in a nutshell.

    So, what happens now?

Things will need to settle for a bit before a decision on whether to introduce a replacement can be made. If demand is there, then chances are good. If people wander off and do something else, then not so good.

I quite like the idea of PTC supporting something that doesn't involve a touring title. Probably 80% of the time over the last 5 years that system has been dysfunctional for all sorts of reasons. It could simply be a retooling of IG, or something different. It should be accessible, fun, and not interfering with feds doing their thing on their timetables.

In keeping with 2008 PTC's heavy emphasis on user driven, if feds here want a touring title, someone is welcome to make that happen, manage it, advertise it here in the usual places, encourage people to trash talk over it or whatever, but it won't be able to be called "PTC (insert name here) title", nor any of the names previously associated with PTC titles (Global or Unified, specifically). We went through all that with the Universal Title, its just easier to find a new name and get along than it is to pack up everything and move, unless that is what you want to do anyway. I encourage people who want this to give it a shot, as you might easily find solutions to problems that we never could, despite trying for the better part of 7 years.

I find it hard to believe that the title suddenly "can't work" when Ben did JUST FINE running the division with no real issues for several months.

No offense to Craig, I like him, but maybe he wasn't the person to be running the division. I don't see this as an issue where "it just doesn't ever work", but more of a case where in this particular instance it didn't work out. Ben did a fine job with the division and I would think, just my opinion, that instead of just throwing up the hands and saying "Oh well we'll just not do this anymore" that it would have been better to see if possibly making some changes to the running of the division would have helped.

In fact if getting judges is an issue then maybe just having someone help Craig out and Craig and that person being 2 out of the 3 judges is all you need. Then you just have to find 1 judge each time. No sweat there. I'd be willing to help him in that way. If he wanted I'd be willing to help him be the match writer for PTC title matches. We could split them. There were ways to avoid this situation getting to the point of just 'shutting the division down'.

Again this isn't a knock on Craig as a person, he's a great dude, but I just don't see how it ran pretty well for a while with Ben doing it and then someone else takes over, they have an issue, and all the sudden the division is the issue. And not to put all the blame on Craig here this isn't even really an issue. This whole little 'argument' could have easily been avoided had a simple match been written up and posted. I know Caldera is a busy guy, I understand that, but honestly...weeks to get one match done? Please. No one is THAT busy. I have a wife, kids, work, school, kids in sports, all sorts of stuff going on and I could have found a few hours, in a weeks time, to write up a simple match and got it done.

Beyond that, even if he couldnt, it's a simple case of letting someone else write it. It's not that difficult. If Ben doesn't have the time then Ben doesn't need to have a say in who writes it instead. Period. Besides that, from what I understand, Rep had said he'd write it up and get it out there. Problem solved.

    Just my opinion there.

Also I REALLY hate when you, or anyone else for that matter, says "If you want to do something like this, and advertise it here, sure no problem but you can't call it PTC whatever."

Frankly, Ross, I'm tired of you holding PTC things like they're yours, and yours alone, (Where it comes to being a name or whatever) just because you don't feel like taking part in it anymore. I know you pay the bills, I get that, but no one says you have to. If you don't want to do it anymore, then just say your closing it and stop holding things like this where people can't use the name simply cause you don't want them to.

If this is suppose to be about the community then your "You can't use the name" thing is beyond pointless. Why even bother promoting it as a title, for the PTC community, and the feds affiliated with it, if you're going to pull the "You can't use the name" tag?

Last I checked I don't believe you're even the person who named the title last time. So what gives you the right to tell anyone, at all, what they can and can not do with the title name? You pay the bills for these forums. You own the forums. You do not own everything that has ever happened in PTC.

I'm sick and tired of seeing things shut down, or taken away, because you don't want to deal with PTC anymore and if you don't want to deal with it then it's just not going to happen.

Sorry to sound shitty but frankly I'd rather the whole damn thing just shut down, entirely, than continue to see things taken away and not be allowed to be run because you don't want to do it and you don't want to let others try and work these things out for themselves.

Same thing with GTT happened. There was a chance that could have been done but I know that you didn't want it called GTT because you weren't doing it. I find this kind of attitude, the "If I'm Not Taking Part, or not running it, You Can't Do This" attitude entirely counter productive.

*Shrugs* Whatever. I guess it shouldn't matter either way.

I'm kinda upset myself and I was never a competitor for the title.

    Here's why:
I've always volunteered to help you guys out and I never get any emails, PMs or AIMs to provide such services. I would love to help PTC so that new people and veterans a like can enjoy what I've enjoyed for 4 years. If anyone needs help, match writing, judging, moderating, setting up tournaments, etc, I am always here for that.

I sometimes get the feeling that my help isn't needed because I'm NOT a well known person here. But I can't be if you don't let me. I have great credentials when staffing or running a fed. 4ww did really well with me on staff, WoC my fed in PX was incredible with no late shows ever before I lost the net and moved and now finally, Matt L and I have put a lot of stock, time and effort into Ringside Wrestling and it's flourishing. SO needless to say, I just want to give back. I want to be known. I want to help.

    That is all,
    Anthony

    Dean,

I am not Ross (obviously, I am much prettier) however there are a couple of things to keep in mind:

1 - the whole situation is obviously much more involved than we know about. Sometimes because we know some of a situation doesn't mean that we know all about it. I think that I have 'known' Ross long enough to realise that he never does anything at all from a selfish point of view, or even a proprietory one. So I think that it is unfair to accuse him of doing something because he can, or because it is easier. If he did that I would bet my house that PTC wouldn't be open right now

2 - That said something to keep in mind is very simple - Ross DOES own PTC (own, not pwn). He pays the bills, he does the work, so, at the end of the day, it is his ball game and his ball.

    Tony,

I am speaking from personal experience here It is easy to say' Hey, I'll help' but harder to say' Hey, I'll help and here is what I will do, how I will do it and why it should be done'. I wouldn't take it personally that you haven't been asked to do anything because that would also include 99% of the member base of PTC too

As far as juding goes - everytime there is something that needs judged simply volunteer to judge it and then judge it (reminds me I have four things to write up and post!). As far as running a tournament, plot it all out and run it by Ross ... if it looks like it acn work and the work is done then it will run. That worked for me a couple of times

... as for not getting a shot at the UT. That, again, is similar to 99% of the members

I know it's easy to say. But let the work I've volunteered for and done speak for itself.

RJ can vouch for the AMOUNT of work I did in 4ww.
Matt can vouch for my work in rW.

I've no-showed to 6 events, I-Fed or Fed wise in 12 years. I am one of those people who will write the whole show before i let it go up late. Whenever I have Judged or volunteered for matches or signed up for an event, I've held up my end of the deal.

Win, lose, it didn't matter. I was a good sport this WHOLE time in PTC and now all I want is for someone to acknowledge that and perhaps give me a real chance to do something.

The Uni belt goes back LONG before Ben running the division or Ben even being involved. I'm willing to bet a shiny penny Ross got tired of the many ups and downs of the belt through it's history and the countless headaches because frankly people get too worked up over a pretend belt (like me).

Shit, this is like, what? 5th time the division has had a major problem. Seriously, time and time again people have shown they are capable of running it smoothly for an extended period of time.

And with us not being able to call it PTC, that is fine. I'm pretty sure Ben doesn't want anyone creating a GCW belt that isn't involved in GCW. Ross' identity for many people is directly related to PTC. He's the person who paid the bills. He's the person who held people's hands when they had a fit. He's the person who spent hours coding. He's the person who set up and helped more feds in PTC than anyone not called the fedhead. He's still letting people use these forums as a gathering space and someone can create a new belt to have fun with. He just doesn't want to be linked to it and have to deal with each wet nose. That's fine.

He's still letting us use it for tournaments, but it can't be linked to him. He's still letting us do basically anything we want as long as we support it and run it. He just doesn't want to be the person to have to read 10 page PMs when a problem arises. (Which it will because it always does).

So Tony, if you want to do something, do it. No one is going to stop you. If you want to create a new division with a new title, go about it. If you want to try to organize a tournament, jump on it. I'm willing to bet you can find a ton of people here to help. Just don't wait for someone to ask you to do it or you'll be standing around for a long time.

And besides, we all know Ross only retired the belt because he got sick and tired of not seeing me as champion. I'm his sunshine.
Hey, Fightin' Tigers, fight all the way
Play, Fightin' Tigers, win the game today
You've got the knowhow, you're doing fine
Hang on to the ball as you hit the wall,
And smash right through the line
You've got to go for a touchdown,
    Run up the score.
Make Mike the Tiger stand right up and roar
    ROAR!!
Give it all of your might as you fight tonight,
And keep the goal in view: Victory for L-S-U!

Hells yes. That's what I wanted to hear! Coming from Storm, that's all I ever wanted to hear. I'd love to help in anyway. That's all. I want to make sure that other people can be immortalized like Almasy, Deville, Storm, Pheonix, Curiosity etc, and the countless other PTC household names I grew up to admire in 4 years.

If someone else has a desire to get and keep a division going, support this thread, let's get together and make it work. I know we can do it.

*Shrugs* I guess. Whatever. Doesn't matter either way. I just think it's pointless to just close stuff down and tell people they can do this but they can't do that.

    I'm probably wrong, but whatever.
