Lightbulb Child's Play Charity

Hello PTCers -- long time, no talk. My fault, I know. I blame work, and the fact that I just can't quit you. But forget that, I'm here on important business at the moment and can't be distracted by my abiding love for all things Argyle.

Wanted to post a quick note regarding a fantasy wrestling/e-wrestling community charity drive that I'm hoping folks will be interested in. My full note with detail and other thoughts is available at http://www.fwrestling.com/a/news/fea...VApFVppk.shtml

Child's Play is a charity started by the guys at Penny Arcade five years ago to support children's hospitals. The gist is that children's hospitals work with Child's Play to create wishlists of video games, toys and movies they would like to help support the children in their care while they're sick, away from home, and very often bored.

My thought was that given our long-standing community of online writers/gamers/whatever we call ourselves these days, that a charity devoted to sick children and created by online gamers seems to be a good fit.

As I mention in my note -- we've all talked for a long time about ways to energize/focus/etc. the energies of our communities. I think this is a chance to do it where we don't have to worry about difference in style, philosophies on what makes a great roleplay or how annoyed we are by certain rankings.

The PTC community has been an incredible, tight community over the years. I'm hoping you'll join with me in supporting Child's Play.

Please read the note above and let me know what questions or suggestions you might have. Please post here, or feel free to e-mail me at chad@fwrestling.com.

Ross -- hope you're well! Let me know if you have any concerns about this being posted here. Also, touch base with any ideas or anything else you may need from me. All my best!

Like I said on the FW boards, this is a good idea and I'll definitely be contributing to it.

Please take a minute to read a note from Jamar Short, a long-time handler in FWO, CSWA and EPW, about how his family has been affected by one of the hospitals Child's Play supports.

Just a reminder that 11 days remain until Christmas and the day when FWrestling will make a donation to the Child's Play Charity on behalf of the various fantasy wrestling/e-wrestling communities. So far there have only been 7 contributors for a total of $400, well below the $1500 target. Please consider donating to help children's hospitals provide better care for their patients.

To donate -- simply go to http://fwrestling.com and click the "ChipIn" widget button where you'll be directed to Paypal. As always, contact me at chad@fwrestling.com or at FW Central (http://fwrestling.com/fwc) if you have any questions, concerns, etc. Thanks to those of you who have already generously donated.

Thanks to everybody who contributed to the charity drive for the Child's Play Charity supporting children's hospitals around the world. At the end of Christmas Day, I rounded the total up to $500 and have purchased gifts from the wish lists of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and North Carolina Children's Hospital through Amazon. In the end, Child's Play will have raised over $1.4 million for the second year in a row.

Special thanks to Pete Russo, Katz, Paul Miller, Lindz, Ross, Brian Quick and Ben Halkum for their support. Others mentioned making contributions directly to Child's Play -- thanks for those as well!
